Announcer: Welcome to the Timeless Candles Podcast exploring the attraction of candles and their power to influence our lives.

David: Well, Mary, thanks for taking the time out of your very busy schedule. I know you are probably only a couple of days away from opening the store.

Mary: A couple of days.

David: You are super busy.

Mary: Yeah, we are all busy here because there’s always more to do at the last minute than you think there is. But we are really excited. June 30th we are launching our store at www.TimelessCandles.com, as everybody knows. Right now we’re getting the candles in, getting pictures taken and making sure that we have got everything set for our June 30th opening. You know, some things are working great and some things aren’t quite working like we had hoped but it’s going come together.

David: Excellent. How long have you been working on getting this together?

Mary: It’s been a number of months.

David: Yeah.

Mary: When we first sat down and decided and had our first planning session and got our team together. It’s been a lot of fun. We are getting kind of hectic right now but one of the nicest things about this company is that even though some things aren’t really working, and we’re have to do some work-a-rounds, it’s still fun.

David: Excellent.

Mary: You know, no one’s lost their temper. Everyone’s doing their best. Sometimes things just happen and I think we are keeping it fun and keeping it lighthearted.

David: Things happen in the real world. That’s for sure. I know there are some unique things this store. Do you want to tell us about those things, about the launch?

Mary: Let’s start with the launch. One of our values in the company is giving back and if you’ve been listening to our podcasts you know that the first week’s profits, that’s all the profits, are going to breast cancer research. And to sweeten the deal, we are also giving out pink lapel pins to the first 100 people who place an order with us.

David: Wow. I mean it sounds like not only are you giving away all of your first week’s profit but on top of that you are giving a gift to the first 100 people just in order to support breast cancer research.

Mary: That’s right. We are real excited about this. We want people to come order to support breast cancer. And the ribbons are nice thank you from us here at Timeless Candles to the people who are helping us support this cause.

David: Yeah. Yeah. I know you were telling me the other day it would be like a dream to have a week from launch, people would just light the candle, I think you said July 7th, in memory of people with breast cancer. And that was just really touching.

Mary: Yeah, that’s the first thing that we are doing. The other thing is that if you go to our website you can sign up for our Candles Buyer’s Club where you can save five percent not only on your first order but all orders thereafter. There are really no strings attached to this Buyer Club. We are not asking for anything, you know, extraneous or in depth. Bit we have just wanted to create a Candles Buyer’s Club where we could notify you of upcoming specials and let you know featured candles. Maybe even ask you for you opinion as to, know, you’ve tried this candle, what do you think, and what would you like us to carry and we want to give you five percent off your orders.

David: That’s great. You know sometimes you get these annoying emails that are like - Take this survey and maybe you’ll win something. There might be two. You know that thousands of people are going to the website and taking the survey, and you guys are giving something away to everybody.

Mary: Every time too. I have been in those kind of little catch 22’s where you sign up for, oh say, you order a cookbook, and then you’re stuck on this mailing list and not only that you are stuck on everybody else’s mailing list, every company that that company thinks that you might want something from. And it’s like, you know, I just bought a cookbook. No we are not going to do that. We take your privacy very seriously and we are not going to give it away, we’re not going to sell it, you can stop at any time. Absolutely no problem with that. We respect your email privacy and we do everything we can not to send you anything annoying, anything that you don’t want. This is simply a way to get you the best information, the best deals, and we are thanking you by giving you the five percent off.

David: Right and I get five percent off on my orders for life.

Mary: Right.

David: What could be wrong with that?

Mary: I hope people like it.

David: It sound like a great idea to me at least for your customers. You know another thing that can be tricky about websites and ordering from websites is not being able to reach a live person.

Mary: Yes, we do have an 800 number that is 1-800-658-1917 and you can call us definitely. We have live people here.

David: Yeah, I know that.

Mary: [laugh].

David: So there’s a way for customers to get a live person and the other thing that can sometimes be annoying is that you buy something and they have really convoluted return policy. You know, for whatever reason it just doesn’t work out or whatever. What is Timeless Candle’s return policy?

Mary: Call us. Let us know. And there’s no questions about your return. If you’re not happy with the candles you can return them.

David: Flat. No convoluted return policy?

Mary: Flat. There’s no ifs, ands or buts. We want you to be thrilled with our candles - not just happy, thrilled. We really look for the best candles that we can find out there that fits your needs and if you get it and its damaged or its not up to the standards that you though it should be, give us a call. We can arrange to get it back.

David: Fabulous. It sounds like this Friday, June 30th, is going to be a celebration for you and a celebration for your customers.

Mary: I don’t know if we’ll be dancing in the streets or just tired. But we are definitely looking forward to it. We are asking everybody to tell their friends, tell their family, tell your churches, your organizations that you belong to. You know check out our site as of June 30th, sign up, support breast cancer. Hey, you know, maybe you’ll be one of the first 100 people and we’d love it if you could get a pin and do sign up for our Candles Buyer’s Club.

David: Excellent. Thank you so much, Mary.

Mary: Thank you.

With the launch of its Memorial Day themed podcast, Timeless Candles shows that it’s on the cutting edge of where business communications is headed, and that it plans to stay there.

Sherwood, Or, May 29, 2006 — With the launch of its Memorial Day themed podcast, Timeless Candles shows that it’s on the cutting edge of where business communications is headed, and that it plans to stay there.

Paul Colligan, www.paulcolligan.com, the author of the soon to be released Business Podcast Bible and the creator of www.123PodcastLaunch.com said “Personally, I think the angle that the Timeless Candles people are taking is more than interesting, it’s brilliant - building buzz for the site from the Podcast. Imagine hearing 9 episodes of something before you can even possibly visit the sales site.”

Timeless Candles, which won’t open its doors for business until June 30th, is already demonstrating that it intends to be an industry leader when it comes to added value service and utilizing cutting edge technology.

According to Timeless Candles’ webmaster Kelly McAwley, “I love cutting edge communications and I knew that this was an opportunity for us to be on the leading edge of business communications.” He added, “It’s not often that a small business startup gets a chance like this.”

Not everyone at Timeless Candles is sold on the technology side of the podcasts, “Really, I couldn’t care less about all this cutting edge stuff,” said Mary Richardson co-owner of Timeless Candles. “I just love candles and I know there are a whole lot of other women, and maybe some men too, who also love them.” Richardson went on to say: “When you think about it, candles actually do play a prominent role in our lives. Whether it’s Memorial Day here in the United States or Dia del Muerto down in Mexico, celebrating a wedding or a special family holiday meal, candles are an integral part in how we express our pain and joy - which is a pretty unique function of candles.”

Back on the use of podcasts McAwley went on to say: “I knew the podcast would be a fun experiment, but what I couldn’t really predict was how well the podcasts would be received. I am actually thrilled by Mr. Colligan’s response. And, while she might not care about cutting edge technology, I know that Mary’s pleased by the number of people who have been contacting her to comment on the candle information she’s sharing.”

Selling, votives, pillars, tea lights and candle holders, the company will officially launch their candles web store on June 30, 2006. In the meantime, anyone interested in this hot new Internet startup can sign up at Timeless Candles, to receive pre-launch updates.
